The 53rd International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering (CIE53) will be hosted by the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Khalifa University of Science & Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 20–23 October 2026. The conference will take place at the university’s main campus, located in the vibrant heart of Abu Dhabi.
CIE53 continues the prestigious tradition of a conference series sponsored by Computers & Industrial Engineering: An International Journal, published by Elsevier. The journal achieved an Impact Factor of 6.5 in 2025 and a CiteScore of 13.2, ranking in the 96th percentile among general engineering journals (Q1, Web of Science; ABDC ‘A’ rating).

CIE53 is organized to disseminate recent theoretical and methodological developments, significant technical applications, case studies, and survey results in the areas of computing, industrial engineering, and related fields. The 2026 edition will focus on the theme: “From Data to Policy: Transforming Systems for Sustainability.”

Paper Submission & Publication
CIE53 offers two options for paper submissions at the same registration rate:
- Full papers (maximum 10 pages, including references and appendices) will be reviewed for both presentation and publication in the conference proceedings. Only PDF files will be accepted.
- Abstract-only submissions (200–300 words) will be reviewed for presentation but will not be published in the proceedings.
All submissions must be made through EasyChair. Authors are invited to submit original work not under review elsewhere. Submissions must be written in English.
CIE53 proceedings will be published, indexedea in Scopus, and assigned a dedicated DOI. Only accepted and presented full papers will appear in the proceedings, while accepted abstracts will be listed in the program. At least one author per accepted paper/abstract must register by the early-bird deadline.
Important: Please ensure that the paper title and author list in your submitted PDF exactly match those entered in EasyChair and formatted according to the provided templates: MS Word, and LaTeX (Overleaf).
Special Issues
Computers & Industrial Engineering
A selection of high-quality presented full papers will be invited to submit extended versions
to a special issue of Elsevier’s Computers & Industrial Engineering (C&IE) Journal (ISSN 0360-8352).

Data & Policy
High-quality papers addressing data-driven and policy-relevant research will be invited to submit to the Data & Policy
journal (ISSN 2632-3249) for consideration under the journal’s standard submission and peer-review procedures.
Authors are encouraged to consult the journal's interdisciplinary Areas of Interest in order to select the one that seems most relevant to their work when they submit.

International Journal of Production Economics
Selected papers presented at CIE53 will be recommended to submit extended versions to the regular submission channel of the
International Journal of Production Economics (IJPE) (ISSN 0925-5273)
for consideration under the journal’s standard submission and peer-review procedures.
Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering
Selected papers presented at CIE53 will be invited to submit extended versions through the regular submission channel of the Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering (JIPE).
JIPE (Scopus, Q1) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality research for the industrial engineering community.
Its scope includes operations research and soft computing, quality and applied statistics, manufacturing automation and e-business, human factors and HCI,
information technology and management, industrial technology and management, product lifecycle management, and production and operations management.

Confererence Registration
Author Registration:
- At least one author of each accepted paper must register as an in-person presenter. Otherwise, the paper will not be included in the conference proceedings. The registered author should be the one presenting the paper at the conference.
- This requirement applies to all accepted works, including those published in the companion proceedings (e.g., abstract, and full paper submissions).
- Please note that registering one author does not automatically grant conference access to co-authors. They must register separately if they wish to attend.
Student Registration:
- Only students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program are eligible for the student rate. A valid student ID or other proof of student status must be provided at the time of registration.
C&IE Journal Area Editors:
- Area Editors of the Computers & Industrial Engineering Journal are eligible for a discounted registration rate. Please include your details when registering to receive the discount.

The conference will be held on the Main campus of Khalifa University, Building B, ground floor.
The location can reached by walking from Dusit Thani, or by car/taxi from any other location.

There are two large aiports (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) that have direct connections to most of the large cities in the world. The conference venue can be reached by taxi for about $25-$30 (from Abu Dhabi airport) or $90-$100 (from Dubai Airport).

Abu Dhabi has a large number of hotels starting from $50 per night. Organizers have arranged corporate tarifs with the some hotels for the registered conference participants.

The taxis are very safe and reasonably priced.
